How The Art of Snailing Began
One baby snail. One questionable decision. A whole lot of tiny art.
It started innocently enough.
Tamera had a baby land snail.
Then she thought, You know what this snail needs? A friend.
So she got another one.
This seemed like a perfectly reasonable plan right up until she learned one small, extremely important detail: land snails are hermaphrodites. In other words, both snails came equipped with everything required to make more snails.
So “a friend” quickly became more of a population strategy.
And because Tamera is an artist, the obvious next step was not simply to raise snails like a normal person.
No.
The snails needed portraits.
Then tiny framed art.
Then museum enclosures.
Then names, personalities, collections, certificates, care guides and an entire miniature art world built around them.
And just like that, The Art of Snailing was born.
What started with two tiny snails became a wonderfully strange collision of art, nature, humor and slow living.
Today, each snail muse is paired with original artwork and a little world of its own, creating what may very well be the world’s tiniest art museum.
The moral of the story?
Never underestimate what can happen when an artist learns that two snails can make a whole lot more snails.
Sometimes inspiration arrives slowly.
